Nog details eersdaags (dit het toe gebeur, daar was 7 mense, ons en Trike en Bacchus het gespeel. Dit was in die Kliphuis, Andries Bezuidenhout het 'n mooi poem gelees. Ons is betaal. Ons het drankies gedrink. Later het ek 'n Ons Klyntji aan Theuns Jordaan verkoop.)

25th - Sunday, Arcmhair Theatre. This is the official Cape launch for Ons Klyntji, and we will play a couple of songs. Programme: 17:00 braai on the Armchair balcony, all welcome, come meet some OK contributors. Bring and braai. We provide coals and Braaimaster. Cash bar, so don't bring booze. 19:00 we'll go downstairs and launch the OK by way of a few readings by contributors and Buckfever playing couple of songs, so too Robin Auld and Willim Welsyn. After this, at 21:00 Rian Malan starts his gig (it's actually his gig night, we're just jumping on the bandwagon etc). Entry to the show part of the eve (the braai is free) is R40 or R20 if you're an OK contributor.
6th - Armchair Theatre. R30. Doors 8pm, show strictly 8.30pm. The Buckfever Underground collaborates with Madosini for a once in a lifetime gig. Madosini is a traditional Xhosa singer and musician and we were brought together by the producers of the SABC1 show Headwrap, who have been filming us and Madosini in the month leading up to this gig. This show is the culmination of our collaboration and the Headwrap episode documenting the whole process will be broadcast later in the year on SABC1. Our long lost friend Craig Hallet took some pictures. Vicky Plum reviewed it.

Potential guest artists included Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Okkervil River, Old Dirty Bastard and Yanni, but all have sadly cancelled. 2 set gig, all new visuals on the screen. 3 & 4th - Two short fifteen minute sets at the Spier Open Air Poetry Festival curated by Antjie Krog. Toast also did some readings. Other participating writers and musos included Chirikuri Chirikuri, Chiwoniso Maraire (both Zimbabwe), Godessa, Koos Kombuis, Tom Lanoye (Belgium), Rocco de Villiers, Yvette Christiansë (SA via NY), Imbongi Mngomeni, Lebohang Mashile, Finuala Dowling, Chantel Erfort & Andre from Dala Flat. Magriet Theron took some nice pictures of us playing.

16th - It was one crazy night with The Wild Eyes and The Diesel Whores this one. Check the poster/ flyer out. R30.
28th - Our friend Ilda got married to a nice guy called Tim. We played, Nick Turner played, Jon and his bro played and Adriaan Brand joined us too. It was a party alright. Stephen boogied.

19th - At UWC, Toast performed without the band at the UWC Poetry Festival alongside Rustum Kozain, Tjitske Jansen, Chris Chameleon, Hagar Peeters, Diana Ferrus, Vernie Plaatjies, Dala Flat, Frank Marthinus Arion, Isaac Mutant. Antjie Krog organized the week-long festival.
The days before this event, some of the writers went out to Montagu for a concert and some poetry workshops with local kids. Here are some photos.

13th - The Buckfever Underground by their lonesome selves at The Deer Park Cafe, Oranjezicht ghetto, Cape Town. Part of the Scratch & Paste series. It featured all sorts of special shit, photo projections and other wanky art stuff. The show is called 'sings songs of Korea' (pronounced han-gook eul no-rae-ha-da - see flyer) as we're going to perform a special set of songs written while in Korea in 2003. It starts at 8pm and might go on 'till 12. Entrance a mere R10.
